FAQ
Questions we get asked every week
Answered without the disclaimers that say nothing.
Getting started
₹50 lakhs, as mandated by SEBI for all Portfolio Management Services. This is the minimum per account. If your investable assets are below this threshold, we can discuss conventional products and advisory services until you reach the PMS minimum.
₹1 crore, as mandated by SEBI for Category I Alternative Investment Funds. Given the illiquid nature of AIF investments, we also recommend this not represent more than 20% of your total investable wealth.
Your bank sells products its parent company manufactures. The advice and the product come from the same organisation, which creates a conflict of interest. Merisis Wealth does not sit inside a bank, an AMC or an insurance company. We recommend what suits your portfolio and explain how we are paid. Our advisors also bring investment banking sector expertise.
No. We work with clients across India and internationally. Meetings can be in person in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore or Chennai, or over video. Many of our ongoing client relationships are managed entirely remotely.
Portfolio Management Services
In a mutual fund, your money is pooled with thousands of other investors. You own units in the fund, not the underlying stocks. In PMS, you own the stocks directly in your own demat account. Your portfolio is separate from every other client's. Your tax position is your own. You can see every holding in real time without waiting for a monthly disclosure.
PMS fees typically consist of a fixed management fee and a performance fee above a hurdle rate. The exact fee structure for SmartBlend PMS is in the Disclosure Document, available on request. We discuss fees in the first meeting, and every charge is listed in the Disclosure Document.
PMS invests in listed equities. Equity investments carry market risk. The value of your portfolio will go up and down. There is no guarantee of returns, and you can lose money. What PMS offers is professional management and a disciplined investment process, not capital protection.
